NEW FICTION AND NONFICTION ADDED AT THE LIBRARY
New fiction and nonfiction titles are highlighted this week, starting with The Next Time You Die," the latest mystery by Harry Hunsicker.
Nothing comes easily in Dallas for anybody named Oswald, and that includes private detective Lee Henry Oswald. This time, a bourbon-swilling preacher hires him to recover a stolen file, a job Hank figures will be quick and easy. It's anything but, however, when a psychopathic hit man shows up, intent on finding the same file.
After ending a bad relationship, Casey Costello, an executive chef on a morning television show, swears off men. After all, she's in the middle of her high-energy, stress-inducing career, so who has time anyway? Then handsome chef Danny O'Shea makes a guest appearance on the show. Last Bite is by Nancy Barr.
The Days of Summer by Jill Barnett begins in 1957 and is set on the California coast. The Bannings lead a life of privilege, wealth, and domestic unhappiness. And oil magnate Victor Banning is determined to teach his son and grandsons to be predators in his dog-eat-dog world.
Jane Moore's new novel revolves around a group of women who started something called The Second Wives Club. The friends get together and gossip about the drama that inevitably unfolds when you marry someone else's husband. But when they decide that it's time to stop settling for second best, the fun really begins.
Nonfiction titles include First-Time Parents by Dr. Miriam Stoppard. It contains lots of practical information and support throughout your baby's first year. Topics include supporting each other through pregnancy and birth, bonding with your baby, enjoying life as a family, and helping your baby to develop.
Bitter Ocean by David White is an account of perhaps the least-known major battle of World War II, the Battle of the Atlantic.
British, Canadian, and American air and sea forces fought the German U-boats in this desperate battle, and prevailed-at a terrible cost.
